A Clean Start

Abuela is staying with us this week and she is always super-helpful with Conley and house projects! This week my big 3 are to clean my closet, the guest room (our official dumping ground) and the kitchen (pantry, fridge, cabinets). Of course I've got quite a few other things on my list but trying to be somewhat realistic and focus on those- and then anything else will be a bonus. Peter has some outside/garage related to-do's as well, so it's sure to be a busy week. As of tonight, I'm 90% done with the closet and it feels great! It's amazing what a freshly cleaned out/organized closet can do for your mood. I'm not sure the pictures do it justice, but things are not so cluttered as before and I find myself just standing in their looking at my handy work! All that's left for me are the two drawers that hold all the underwear, socks and bras and then my workout clothes - should be a piece of cake compared to everything else. When all is said and done it will have probably taken about 5 hours total. Yay - until next summer!

*Update: I did get around to cleaning out the guest room, yay! Still have one little pile of frames/prints that need to be dealt with and a bassinet full of reusable bags, but other than that it is finally cleared out! And then in the kitchen, I finally got through the pantry and fridge - so much empty space now! The rest of the kitchen will have to wait though - all in good time!

34 Candles

Another birthday yesterday - and while I stopped really looking forward to birthdays after I turned 21, this really was a great one!

Peter took the day off, so we started with a family walk and a stop at Austin Java for banana nut
muffins - so good fresh out of the oven!

After breakfast, I went to yoga - just my second solo class since I was pregnant! It was great, but I had wanted something a little low key and I definitely got that. I did miss having a little guy climbing all over me though, well sort of. ;) Speaking of Conley and yoga, before our trip he randomly started doing downward dog and I got so excited about it that now he likes to randomly do it to show off. And he apparently knows what it's called because if the mood strikes him and I ask him to do it, he does. And is very proud of himself!

After that it was off to lunch at Sway and it lived up to all the hype! We went late, so it was not very crowded. Everything was delicious, but the pad thai jay was my absolute favorite and I am craving it now just thinking about it! Conley had his own dish of rice and veggies, and while he did enjoy some of it (especially the peas), most of the rice ended up on the floor instead of in his mouth and many of the veggies were thrown on the ground as well. Our waitress was very tolerant of our little pigpen!

After that we finally got around to trying Lick, an organic ice cream shop that's been on my to-visit list for awhile now. Conley liked putting his face up to the cooler and banging on the glass - and had fun with a few groups of kids that came in as well. Lots of unique flavor combinations and pretty good - and it smelled delicious in there! Reminded me of our daily (sometimes 2x/day) gelato stops in Italy.

Enjoyed the ice cream and then noticed the big cow on the wall!

After that a massage for me while Peter and Conley went to the Children's Museum and the night was capped off with dinner at Asti - a sort-of tradition for my birthday. We went there last year as well and the time before that was the night I went into labor! A great birthday spent with the boys!

Biker Babe

Oops, another one I never published - from May 3!
Peter was very excited about finally getting a trailer for his bike last weekend and we took Conley on his first ride in it and he loved it! They have taken a few more trips this week and the novelty hasn't worn off yet. I think he likes all the room he has and the side pockets for all his important treasures - sippy cups, books and whatever other odds and ends end up in his possession. He looks so cute in his little helmet too!
